Cute Butterfly Snack Idea For Kids

I receive one after-school child in the afternoons in addition to my home preschool. Every day she gets off the bus, comes inside, and has her snack. Recently, she came inside and pulled her snack out of her book bag as usual, but the snack itself was a bit unusual. She pulled out a plastic baggie filled with colorful dry cereal pieces, but the baggie full of dry cereal had been transformed into an adorable butterfly. It was one of the cutest things I had ever seen, way to cute to keep it a secret.

Directions

Obtain a durable plastic snack baggie. Purchase one that seals well. You will also need a clothes pin. The wooden ones work best. Add pipe cleaners, paints, and makers to your collection of supplies.

Instruct the child to paint or color the clothes pin with markers. Leave enough room at the top for eyes and perhaps little smiley lips. Fill the plastic snack baggie with a colorful cereal. Take care not to pack the bag too tightly or over fill it. Leave enough space to scrunch up the middle of the bag. After the clothes pin dries, if paints were used, scrunch up the baggie and pin the clothes pin onto the middle of the baggie so that each side of the baggie looks like beautifully colored butterfly wings. Then, twist a pipe cleaner around the top and shape to form the antennae. Snap photos quickly because the butterflies will not last long. The children will be anxious to enjoy their cute little snacks.

Note: Teachers and parents might consider this idea instead of traditional goodie bags for class parties or birthday party celebrations.

What a great idea, and so easy to implement, too. Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure parents, grandparents, camp counselors, babysitters and teachers will find it a useful and popular idea.

Rated up, useful, awesome and beautiful.

Thank you, Happybommernurse! I thought it was adorable. I wouldn't let her eat it until I took the photo! :)
